Author and researcher Lisa A. Shiel founded MUPBO, the Michigan Upper Peninsula Bigfoot Organizatio, in 2005 to satisfy UP residents' intense interest in the subject. As a recognized expert on Bigfoot and UFOs, Lisa has been interviewed by big-city newspapers, television news reporters, and drive-time talk radio hosts (listen to her interviews here). She's a certified professional librarian with a master's degree in library science. In August 2006, Lisa accepted a position as Chief Investigator for the Michigan chapter of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), as well as section director for MUFON in the UP. As a fiction writer, Lisa developed the Human Origins Series—Books One and Two, The Hunt for Bigfoot and Lord of the Dead, are currently available (buy them here). Her first nonfiction book, Backyard Bigfoot: The True Story of Stick Signs, UFOs, & the Sasquatch—published in the spring of 2006—is available at BackyardBigfoot.com.
Under Lisa's direction, MUPBO seeks to fill a void by becoming the first group dedicated to Bigfoot research in the Keweenaw Peninsula—Michigan's northernmost fingertip and the home of the historic Copper Country. Situated in the most remote and densely forested area of the state, with thousands of acres of uninhabited woods all around, MUPBO sits in quintessential hairy hominid territory.
Anyone can join MUPBO. Whether you live in Michigan or Mauritania, whether you accept the Gigantopithecus theory or ascribe to the UFO hypothesis, even if you're not sure Bigfoot exists, MUPBO has something to offer you.
Help us develop our sightings database! Report your sighting, or join as a researcher to have sightings you've investigated included in the database. Every sighting matters to us, and every witness deserves our respect.
